Our elementary-level studio is currently in its fourth year of operation. You can see some of what we've been up to on our Instagram.
To enter the Elementary Studio a learner must be independent and resilient enough to take responsibility for their learning and choices. And parents must be ready to see the struggles that come with that responsibility. Learners need to be independent readers who can read directions successfully on their own and write down their thoughts to navigate this learner-driven studio successfully.
A strong foundation in goal setting, time management, bouncing back from failure, conflict resolution, and community building prepares learners for the Explorers Studio. The aforementioned skills are crucial to being a success at our middle school level.
Learners are free to work ahead academically. A strong academic foundation gives learners the skills they need to go deeper in their project work. Learning to Be badges show learners have developed the character and confidence to take on more complicated projects and leadership positions.
* These approximate ages correspond to activities and learning in our Discovery Studio. The grade levels are approximately 3rd to 5th. Learners move to Explorers Studio when they have mastered Discovery's academic work.
